    Lorima\u2019s experience in the manufacture of large masts has naturally led it to become involved in maritime sailing projects. This diversification is based on our strong desire to play an active role in decarbonising maritime trade. <\/p>\n

    Our aim is to play a part in the development of more environmentally-friendly shipping.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    This is why we are involved in projects to build sailing cargo ships, such as Towt and Grain de Sail. It\u2019s with this in mind that we are involved in projects to build sailing cargo ships, such as Towt and Grain de Sail. For example, we made 2 carbon masts for Grain de Sail 2, an extraordinary 52-metre cargo yacht: the 44-metre foremast and the 48-metre aft mast. <\/p>\n

    These two gigantic pieces<\/strong> were made in our Lorient workshops and took 9 months to complete<\/strong>. The yacht crosses the Atlantic in just 16 to 18 days, linking Brittany, the United States and the Dominican Republic.  <\/p>\n

    Each mast is made up of 2 half-tubes which are reassembled after firing to form a single tube. Each mast is ultrasonically inspected to check the quality of the composite. The choice of carbon for the construction of masts on cargo yachts gives them a powerful rig and great stability.  <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    These unique projects are helping to revive the sailing trade<\/strong> and to use outboard motors to transport goods.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Initiatives of this kind are multiplying, as demonstrated by skipper Fran\u00e7ois Gabart’s project to build a new 100% glass commercial vessel linking France to the United States by 2025.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
